Liz & John’s Coastal Celebration – St Cwyfan’s Church, Anglesey & St George Hotel, Llandudno

Some weddings just stay with you—and Liz & John’s day was definitely one of those. From the wild, windswept beauty of St Cwyfan’s Church to the seaside elegance of the St George Hotel in Llandudno, their wedding had it all: drama, laughter, emotion, and some seriously unforgettable moments.

Wedding Prep in Llandudno

The day started quietly at the family home, tucked away on a classic Llandudno street just a stone’s throw from the Great Orme. Liz got ready surrounded by her closest people, and from the off, the house was filled with a buzz of excitement. The amazing Keena was on hand for Bridal Make-up.

There were lovely little photo opportunities' as the children helped each other with their hair and make up.

There was a lovely moment between Liz and her mum as they made a few final tweaks to the dress—those little ‘final prep’ moments always make for a great photo opportunity.

The Journey to St Cwyfan’s

St Cwyfan’s isn’t just a church—it’s an adventure. A one-hour drive across the island to a place that feels like the edge of the world. Built on a tidal island just off Anglesey, St Cwyfan’s is a tiny whitewashed church that looks like something straight out of a storybook. Perched against the sea with waves surrounding it at high tide, it’s as dramatic a setting for a wedding as you can imagine. John and the lads were already at the church when I arrived—suited, booted, and in great spirits. We grabbed a few solo shots of John, and then a few group photos. The light out there is something else—soft, sea-reflected, and perfect for portraits.

As the guests started to arrive, there was a bit of a challenge with the terrain - I waited patiently trying to capture guests in their heels struggling with the rocky terrain, but to be fair, all was good (but the odd fall would have made for a great shot). Even with the treacherous walk, spirits were high, and everyone took it in good humour. It added to the story of the day, and the laughter was contagious.

Liz Arrives

Then, Liz arrived in the wedding car, and what an entrance. She shared a quiet moment with her mum and step dad, before tackling the scramble across the island. Shoes in hand, dress lifted, wind blowing—it was iconic. That trek across to St Cwyfan’s will go down in wedding day legend.

The Ceremony @ St Cwyfan’s Church

Inside the church, the atmosphere was intimate and full of feeling. Liz made her entrance to a wave of smiles and a few misty eyes. The vows were deeply personal, the rings exchanged with shaking hands, and the kiss brought a cheer from everyone lucky enough to be inside.

They signed the register while friends and family looked on, and the exit through the little arched door was nothing short of cinematic.

Confetti & Couple’s Shoot

There was a bit of debate about the confetti—wind and logistics playing their part—but everyone gave it their best go, and we got some cracking moments as Liz and John emerged as newlyweds.

We took advantage of the church’s epic backdrop for the couple’s shoot—shots at the back of the church with the ocean behind them, and then down the steps off the island as the light danced on the water. These two were absolute naturals, despite the breeze doing its best to sabotage Liz's hair!

Drinks Reception @ St George Hotel, Llandudno

Back on the mainland, the reception kicked off at the gorgeous St George Hotel, perched right on Llandudno’s seafront. The contrast from the wild Anglesey coast to the classic Victorian charm of the hotel was perfect. Guests mingled with Prosecco and canapés, while we captured some relaxed group shots on the stairs leading to the hotel.

The room was beautifully styled, with personal touches everywhere. The handmade arch behind the top table was a labour of love and made a perfect frame for speeches later on.

Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

Once everyone was seated, the speeches began. There were tears, there was laughter (a lot of it), and there were a few moments that had the whole room in stitches. The flowers on the tables were soft and summery, and I snuck in a few detail shots of the rings while no one was looking (in amongst eh bouquet).

Evening Do

As the sun dipped behind the Great Orme, we rallied everyone for the main group shot—a great energy in the room and everyone on their feet, cheering the happy couple. Then came the cake cutting , followed by Liz & John’s first dance, surrounded by friends, family, and the warm golden glow of the ballroom.

What a day. Wild landscapes, iconic locations, and two people completely and utterly in love. Liz & John, thank you for bringing me along for the ride—it was an absolute pleasure to capture your day.
