Ffion & Will – A City of St Asaph Wedding with Family, Cricket… and a Baptism
Some wedding days feel like you're stepping into the couple’s world for the day—others are right on your doorstep. Ffion and Will’s big day in the City of St Asaph was a mix of both. With everything happening within walking distance of my house, it was about as local as it gets. But beyond that, this day was something special—personal, full of character, and absolutely packed with heart.

Wedding Prep
The day started at Ffion and Will’s home, and it didn’t take long for the house to fill with that familiar pre-wedding buzz. Ffion was cool and calm, surrounded by family and close friends, and most importantly—little Alys, who was at the heart of everything. Ffion’s dress hung up in the background, while Alys’s little white number sat proudly beside it—today was her big day too.

Gents @ the Cricket Club
Meanwhile, the lads were getting suited up over at St Asaph Cricket Club—a place that holds a lot of meaning for Will and his circle. Buttonholes were passed around, jackets slung on, and the usual bit of friendly banter flying about. I grabbed some solo shots of Will, plus a few group ones, but the natural stuff was where the good stuff happened—plenty of laughs, side glances, and that mix of nerves and excitement that always hits just before go-time.

Back with Ffion, Hair and makeup were in full swing, and the pace of the morning had that relaxed feel—everyone doing their bit, helping where needed, plenty of laughs. There were loads of lovely interactions throughout the morning, especially between Ffion and Alys. She was busy taking it all in, full of energy (and snacks), and totally unphased by all the getting-ready action.
There were a few last-minute tweaks to the dress with the help of mum and bridesmaids, but no formal ‘reveal’—it was more of a natural flow into the moment, which suited the vibe perfectly.

Ceremony @ The Parish Church, St Asaph
The Parish Church in St Asaph is a proper spot for a wedding—grand without being over the top, and full of history. The ceremony was heartfelt, relaxed, and personal. Vows were exchanged, rings slipped on, and the kiss sealed the deal.
But this wasn’t just a wedding—it was also Alys’s baptism, held at the old stone well within the church. It was such a powerful moment, seeing the three of them stood together with family all around. Alys, as ever, totally stole the show.
With the formalities done, the couple made their exit to a shower of confetti from smiling friends and family waiting outside. There was even a guard of honour with cricket bats.

The Drinks Reception
The drinks reception kicked off in classic fashion—Prosecco in hand, sun just about holding, and laughter filling the marquee. We managed to sneak off for a short couple’s shoot—just 10-15 minutes around the club and nearby spots. Nothing too staged, just them being themselves. Group shots followed—25 to 30 mins of catching family and friends while the light was still on our side.
The marquee was full of handmade touches, with real attention to detail. Personal, unfussy, and very much their own.

Speeches, then Wedding Breakfast
The speeches came first—short, sweet, and from the heart. Plenty of shout-outs, a few cracking one-liners, and more than a few emotional moments.
Afterwards, it was time for the BBQ—proper relaxed wedding food, and the perfect way to keep the atmosphere chilled. I managed to grab a few shots of the rings and flowers on the legendary 'Toro Mower', during a quiet moment before the plates got cleared.

Free Time (with a side of Welsh Weather)
There were plans to head down by the river for a bit of an evening shoot, but, as is often the case in Wales, the weather had other ideas. The rain arrived just in time to scupper that plan, so the evening continued under cover.
We still managed to tick off a big group shot of the entire wedding party during the free time, and the energy never dropped—just shifted under the marquee with plenty of beers and wine to keep things going.

Evening Do
The evening rolled in with a full marquee and high spirits. Cake cutting was met with cheers, and the first dance had everyone gathered around in support. From there, the party was well and truly on—music up, shoes off, and dancefloor filling fast.

A Day Close to Home, and Close to the Heart
From a personal point of view, it was great shooting a wedding so close to home—but more than that, Ffion and Will’s day was a reminder of what really matters. Family, community, and having the people you love around you.
Thanks again for having me along—what a day.
