February 26th took me back to the ever-impressive Soughton Hall—one of those venues that works effortlessly in any season, but winter gives it a certain calmness you don’t get at other times of the year. Set just outside Northop in North Wales, the hall sits amongst long sweeping driveways, walled gardens and old brick architecture that always offer something interesting to shoot.
For Megan and Nathan, we were treated to one of those rare late-winter days that feels almost made for photography. Bright skies, crisp air and that soft, low light that adds a bit of atmosphere to everything. It was an amazing wedding to be part of from start to finish—relaxed couple, great people, and a day that flowed perfectly.

Wedding Prep – The Bridal Parlour
The morning started at the Bridal Parlour, already full of energy. There was a great mix of excitement, interaction and those natural moments between Megan and the girls that make the prep part of the day so good to photograph. Hair and makeup were well underway thanks to Victoria Finnigan and Coral Coyle, and the dress from Shane Moore Designs looked incredible hanging up against the soft light coming through the windows.
Megan’s mum helped with some final adjustments before getting her into the dress, and the room lifted again during the reveal with the girls. The reveal with her dad followed shortly after—one of those quietly emotional moments that always lands well in photos.

The Gents
Over with the lads, the suits from Groom Hire looked sharp and suited the winter setting. We grabbed some simple jacket and buttonhole details before moving into a few relaxed solo and group portraits. Between capturing Megan, Nathan and their guests, I made time to capture the beautiful detail at Soughton Hall.

Ceremony
Soughton Hall’s ceremony room always balances tradition and intimacy perfectly, and Megan’s entrance set a really calm tone for the whole moment. The vows were delivered smoothly, the rings went on without a hitch, and the first kiss was met with plenty of smiles from both sides of the room. After signing the register with their witnesses, Megan and Nathan made a brilliant exit back down the aisle and straight out into the fresh February air.

Drinks Reception & Portraits
The drinks reception had that warm, relaxed feel you get when guests have just arrived and settled in. While everyone mingled, I took Megan and Nathan around the grounds for a short couples session. The light was ideal—bright but soft—so we worked the gardens, the driveway and the main front of the hall in about 15–20 minutes. Group photos followed shortly after, keeping everything quick so no one got too cold.

Wedding Breakfast & Speeches
Inside the room looked great, with Megan’s own floral work adding a really personal touch. There was plenty to capture before everyone sat for the speeches—rings, table details and the general atmosphere building up. Speeches were a good mix of humour and emotion, and the cupcakes from Rachel’s Vegan Cakes went down extremely well.

Evening – Party & Portraits
As the evening picked up, Megan threw the bouquet which brought out plenty of enthusiasm from the crowd.
Inside, the first dance kicked off the evening properly as the Pedal Tones band took over and the dancefloor filled almost instantly.

An incredible day with two brilliant people, a great crowd, and the kind of winter conditions you always hope for but rarely get. Loved every minute of this one.
