Marquee Wedding - Helen & Jonathan | North Wales Wedding Photographer

Helen & Jonathan’s wedding was set on family land in the Dolwen area, near Abergele and Llanddulas—a quiet part of North Wales known for open countryside, coastal views, and space to create a completely personal setup. A marquee wedding like this gives full control over the day, and everything here was built around that.

Wedding Prep at Bryn Defaid
The morning started at Bryn Defaid Lodge & Caravan Park. Prep was straightforward—real interactions, details, and a calm build-up before heading to the ceremony. Hair and makeup by Aimee Paddock and Stacey Yates Hair kept things running on time, with final adjustments and a reveal to family before leaving for church.

Marble Church Ceremony
At St Margaret’s Church (Marble Church), Jonathan and the groomsmen were already set—buttonholes on, quick group shots done, and time to take in the setting. The Marble Church is one of the most recognisable churches in North Wales, with its scale, light, and detailed interior making it ideal for clean, natural coverage.
The ceremony itself kept a steady pace—entrance, vows, rings, and exit from the balcony, which always adds something different visually. A full group photo followed straight after.

Confetti & Couple Portraits
Confetti outside the church led straight into a short portrait session using the main doorway and the scale of the building. Simple setups, no overcomplication—just making the most of the location.

Marquee Reception in the North Wales Countryside
Back at the family farm, the marquee from Peak Marquee was set against open countryside with views back across the land. This is where marquee weddings stand out—space, flexibility, and a setting that’s completely personal.
Guests relaxed during the drinks reception with music from harpist, Dylan Cernyw, while canapés were served by Outside Catering and drinks handled by Foelas Arms.
We used the surrounding gardens and views for a 15–20 minute couple shoot, including angles back towards the house and marquee, before moving into group photos.

Wedding Breakfast & Speeches
The wedding breakfast followed, with speeches after—keeping the flow of the day consistent. Details like the flowers by Blodau’r Garth and rings from Peers The Jewellers tied everything together without overcomplicating the setup.
Planning and coordination from Onyx & Bramble kept everything running as it should throughout.

Evening in the Marquee
As the light dropped, we made the most of the surrounding fields for a short evening shoot—one of the advantages of a rural setup like this. Open space, clean horizons, and no distractions.
The evening wrapped up with 'cutting the cake' by Linda’s Cakes and Bakes, followed by the first dance and live music from Three Strikes (The Function Hub).

Planning a Marquee Wedding in North Wales?
A marquee wedding, gives you complete control over the setting and timeline. If you’re planning something similar and want natural, documentary-style wedding photography across the day, this kind of setup works well in any season.
