Llanrhaeadr Marquee - Samantha & James

This was a memorable day. From glorious scorching sunshine in the morning to one of the most dramatic and liveliest storms I've seen for years... but it all made for some beautiful photo opportunities and some amazing memories. This was Samantha & James's special day. Here's an insight into their day, with a list of all of the suppliers at the end of the blog.

The morning began with Samantha and her bridal party at the family home in Denbigh. I had the pleasure of working alongside fellow photographer Declan West, who was videographer for the day and we had a blast. There was lots of laughter, bacon on the BBQ, lots of Prosecco and an awesome country music soundtrack.

After some beautiful 'dress reveals', in the sunshine, we all hit the road to Llanfair DC Church. James with his groomsmen, and guests waited for Sam's arrival... then the ceremony could commence.

Its official - the new Mr & Mrs Locke. We stopped for photographs outside the stunning Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd church, before a confetti walk outside the grounds... then onwards to the marquee reception in nearby Llanrhaeadr. But, James had other ideas. He requested that we took photo's high up in the Clwydian hills, by 4x4, which was lots of fun (perhaps not for Samantha though). It was pretty windy up there, but well worth it for the amazing views.

Final stop - the marquee wedding reception (by Skye Marquees) in the Denbighshire village of Llanrhaeadr, right in the heart of the Vale of Clwyd. Whilst guests enjoyed drinks, I took the opportunity to photograph the details in the marquee before some family group photo's. All before guests settled for speeches and food, which was provided by the unreal Imogen & Rowen, of No11 & Small Plates, Ruthin.

For a photographer, the lighting in a marquee is great for capturing the natural reactions during the speeches. Combined with a 70-200mm lens attached to a Canon R6, I can just stand back and pick out the action from the happy crowd.
