Lorna and Neil’s wedding day had everything—sunshine, character, emotion, and a real sense of celebration.

Set against the backdrop of St Mary’s Church in Denbigh and the brilliantly rustic Barn at Faenol Fawr, this one was a wonderful local North Wales wedding for me to capture: heartfelt, relaxed, and full of personality. The weather played ball too—blue skies, great light all day, and ideal conditions for a full day of photography.

Morning Prep with Lorna

The day started over at the hotel with Lorna and the Bridal Party. One of the best things about this part of the day was the mix of emotion and interaction. It wasn’t all hairspray and nerves—there were proper moments between Lorna and her daughters, sons, bridesmaids, and family.

Hair and makeup were in good hands with Hayley Davies and Donna Williams, and we got those key prep shots—dress details, final touches, and the big reveal moments. There were also a few little last-minute adjustments and laughs as the dress went on.

Neil & The Gents

Meanwhile, over at the Cottage by the Barn, Neil was with his groomsmen. This bit was more chilled—buttonholes on, jackets sorted, and a couple of gifts handed out.

We got a few solo shots of Neil and some natural group photos with the lads before heading to St Mary’s Church.

Ceremony at St Mary’s, Denbigh

St Mary’s Church is a beauty of a spot—classic North Wales charm and a bit of grandeur to match. Lorna arrived in style with Go In Luxury and was walked down the aisle by her sons.

The ceremony had a real sense of meaning—vows, rings, a kiss, and some lovely moments during the register signing. Then it was a proper celebratory exit through the church doors and into the confetti tunnel.

Reception at The Barn at Faenol Fawr

From there, it was off to the barn for the drinks reception. Guests were mingling, drinks were flowing, and we got straight into group photos. We also snuck away for a quick 10-minute couple’s shoot, making the most of the surroundings before heading back in.

Speeches, Food & A Surprise

The wedding breakfast was followed straight away by speeches. A mix of heartfelt words, a few great laughs, and a little surprise after the mains added to the moment - a nod to Neil's love of Freddie Mercury and Queen.

We also took a bit of time during the lull to capture details—rings, flowers (by Craft Shed).

Evening Light & Party Time

Later in the day, we had a bit of free time to shoot a few more groups, the bouquet toss, and a quick sunset shoot—always worth stepping out for that soft, low light when it hits just right.

The evening do kicked off with cake cutting (credit to Bake U a Cake) and then into the first dance, led by DJ Mike Alan. From there, the party took over—with a photo booth by Party Cliks keeping guests entertained all night.

This was an absolutely cracking day from start to finish—relaxed, genuine, and full of great people. Lorna and Neil were brilliant to work with—totally in the moment and up for anything, which always makes the job even better.
