Jenny & Steve’s day at Vale Country Club wasn’t your standard wedding—and that’s exactly what made it such a pleasure to be part of.
They’d already tied the knot beforehand, so this wasn’t about ticking boxes or sticking to tradition. It was about bringing everyone together—family, friends, and a few inflatable saxophones—for a proper celebration in the Welsh countryside.
The Vale Country Club, tucked away near Ruthin, gives you panoramic views across the Clwydian range, with a big open barn space that feels relaxed and welcoming. Add to that early October sunshine and clear skies (a rare combo), and we were off to a strong start.

WEDDING PREP @ VCC
The morning had a real laid-back feel to it. Jenny was surrounded by a solid team—plenty of laughs, some calm nerves, and a few moments worth pausing for. I captured some lovely interactions with Jenny and her Maid of Honour.
In between I was able to flit to see the gents in the room next door, as well as capture the finer detail and venue decor.

THE GENTS
Over with Steve and the lads, it was full energy from the off. After making his arrival as a giant pink unicorn, gifts were handed out, including possibly the most sweary (and proudest) sock gifts I’ve seen—with a range of expletives... each title perfectly assigned.
There was plenty of banter, some solid "getting-ready" shots, and a quick round of group and solo portraits before they took their positions for the brides arrival.

THE ENTRANCE
No formal ceremony meant we skipped the usual aisle format—but what they planned instead was class.
The groomsmen arrived armed with bubble guns, and there may or may not have been a few inflatable saxophones floating around too (spoiler: there definitely were). Jenny's Maid of Honour led the way, also armed with bubbles. Then, Jenny made her entrance with her dad, set to music, and joined the rest of the crew outside for a sociable start to the day. The perfect reaction to the first look was when Jenny & Steve broke into dance. Totally unexpected, but totally fitting.
Candid shots followed, with the Clwydian backdrop doing its thing in the background.

DAY GUESTS ARRIVE
As more guests joined—close friends, extended family, and kids—the atmosphere just built naturally. There were lawn games, indoor board games, and loads of good conversation. No pressure, no running orders—just people enjoying the day at their own pace. The kids (and some of the big kids) enjoyed Disney classics indoors.
The venue décor reflected their style: clean, considered, and personal (plenty of themes, in particular references to LOTR) - the cake & cheese tower definitely drew some attention.

COUPLES SHOOT
We headed out for a quick photo session, making the most of the light and space. Nothing staged—just Jenny and Steve being themselves. Easygoing, full of laughs, and completely in sync with the rest of the day.

WEDDING BREAKFAST (NON-FORMAL)
Guests tucked in to food as speeches started to pop up here and there—short, honest, and straight from the heart.
I also took a few quiet moments to capture the flowers (a seasonal wreath) and the rings, before heading back into the mix.

EVENING DO
A few evening guests rolled in, including some work mates, and the energy shifted again.
There was a cake cut, but no first dance—just a proper dancefloor session with tunes, moves, and some top-tier expressions. No overthinking, just people enjoying themselves. At one point, we (Myself, Jenny & Steve) sloped off to the top field for some moody shots in the dark with an off camera flash.

Jenny & Steve’s day was everything a wedding celebration should be: personal, unfussy, and built around the people who mattered most. No rigid timelines, no forced traditions—just genuine moments in a brilliant setting.
Massive thanks to them both for having me along for such a memorable day.
