Soughton Hall - Llywela & Andy

This is becoming a regular thing in 2022 - yet more glorious sunshine. This time for the lovely Llywela & Andy, who were such a friendly couple with constant smiles on their faces. They've been an absolute joy to work with and it certainly shows in the following photo's - an insight into their day..

The photography journey began several months before their wedding at Happy Valley and the Great Orme in Llandudno. The trees and flowers were in full bloom, the sky was clear and for a change, there was no wind on the Orme - perfect conditions.

Llywela & Andy's wedding day was to be celebrated at the incredible Soughton Hall, near Mold. "Soughton Hall is an exclusive use wedding and event venue. On the border of Cheshire and North Wales, this stunning Georgian country house is approached down a sweeping driveway and surrounded by landscaped gardens. Full of character, charm and warmth, this lovingly restored hotel boasts 15 individually decorated bedrooms and a host of grand, but cosy reception rooms that make Soughton feel like a home from home (https://soughtonhall.co.uk/)."

Wedding preparation takes place in a grand room on the first floor. There's lots of natural light flooding in through the high windows, which are a dream for a photographer, as well as the other wedding suppliers. On this particular wedding I was fortunate to work alongside Ben Powell Films, who I would highly recommend. The same goes for Hair Stylist Leanne Liepins as well as Make-up Artist Cathryn Kerwin-Rawlinson.

With the Bridal Party happy playing about fully clothed, drinking champagne in a bath, I went to find Andy, the children and Groomsmen for some nice portrait photo's. Another wonderful thing about Soughton Hall is that with all of the extra space, couples can prepare for their big day separately. This enables me to flit between them both.

With Llywela and her Bridesmaids "good to go", and with Andy and all of the guests in place, we could commence with the stunning outdoor wedding. The conditions were perfect for both the outdoor ceremony as well as the photography and videography.

A huge congratulations to the newlyweds. As mentioned, you can see how infectious Llywela and Andy's smiles were and they pretty much maintained this throughout the day - truly on cloud 9. What a day already!

A traditional corridor of guests lead our happy couple into a sea of confetti, just before everyone could kick back and enjoy the drinks reception. Given the time, the drinks reception allows the chance to capture the emotion and interaction between guests, some group shots and a moment to capture the beauty of the reception room before guests are called in for food and speeches. This is also an opportunity to take a walk around the grounds with just the couple for some lovely portraits.

This room looks insanely good!!!

Llywela & Andy were welcomed into their wedding reception to rapturous applause. Food was served first with speeches and toasts to follow soon after. This allowed Ben (the videographer) and I the opportunity to get some food down and us and a strong coffee. Just before I sit down and relax at a wedding, I often find unique ways of capturing the wedding rings and flowers together in some kind of creative arrangement.

After even more smiles and laughter, there was a moment for a few more photo's utilising separate grounds at Soughton Hall. It's a great venue with so many photo opportunities.

My evening ended with a night shoot using 'Off Camera Flash' at the very front of Soughton Hall to show off it's stunning character. But first there was the small matter of the traditional first dance.

I’d like to wish Llywela & Andy a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations to you both and thanks so much for booking Nathan Roberts Photography to capture your special day. I had a lovely day celebrating and capturing your day with wonderful family and friends.
