Quay Hotel - Ffion & Sion
Another glorious summers day. Today we celebrate Ffion & Sion's special day at the spectacular Quay Hotel, Deganwy. Please read on to find out more about their day and to view there lovely photographs.
The morning began with 'Wedding Prep' at Ffion's family home in Felinheli, with Ffion's parents and bridal party.
From one beautiful coastal backdrop to another - the drive from Felinheli to Deganwy took about 25 minutes, where I was greeted by Sion and his Groomsmen, who had recently arrived in style in this Mk2 Escort. Sion loves his cars, which was evident throughout the day. Given the time I always try to photograph the gents before the ceremony, to save time later in the day.
The venue, once again, was looking incredible - in time for Ffion's arrival. Now for the ceremony.
It was a beautiful civil ceremony in the smaller of the two ceremony rooms, overlooking Conwy Castle. The lighting in this room is outstanding for photography. With the pressure now off, Ffion & Sion could enjoy their drinks reception with their family and friends. I like to use this time to photograph the detail of the venue as well as those natural candid shots of guests emotion and interaction.
For our couples shoot we were able to combine use of the cars outside the Quay, with the boats at the nearby marina. With beautiful blue skies and the rolling green hills, we were treated to some beautiful backdrops.
Once the main group shot was captured, it was time for the Wedding Breakfast and speeches in the larger of the two rooms. This is when I take the opportunity to take a break.
It really was the perfect day, with perfect light and very little wind. During the free time in the evening a small group of us headed down to the water feature within the grounds of the Quay, for more photo's. This area offers reflection, flowers, topiary and so much more. There are many angles to shoot from allowing me to be extra creative. Before we headed in for the first dance, the sun was setting and Sion had a few ideas for his beloved wheels.
We were treated to some stunning views as the sun dropped beneath the horizon. Now for the party.
