Laura and Mike were married in May at Plas Isaf, a rural wedding venue set in the heart of the North Wales countryside. Surrounded by open fields and rolling landscape, Plas Isaf offers a relaxed setting with space to adapt — something that proved essential on a day that began with strong winds and driving rain. Working as a North Wales wedding photographer often means staying calm, patient and versatile, and when the weather finally eased, every opportunity was used to create meaningful photographs.

Wedding Preparations
Preparations focused on natural interaction and quiet moments, with dress details, hair and makeup by Look Fabulous by Sinead, and final alterations with the wedding party. Group moments, dress reveals with the bridesmaids and dad, and venue décor were captured as the weather gradually improved.
After arriving in style, Mike prepared with the gents at the barn with some relaxed group portraits whilst guests began to arrive.

Ceremony & Guard of Honour
The ceremony featured live music from the Sarah Pritchard Duo, setting the tone from the entrance through to vows, rings and the first kiss. As Laura and Mike exited, they were met with a guard of honour from Mike’s fire service watch, a powerful and personal moment that led straight into a sea of confetti. Waiting outside was their dog Lola, adding to an already unforgettable exit.
A main group photograph followed, with the fire truck forming a striking backdrop.

Drinks Reception & Portraits
The drinks reception continued with further guard of honour moments, this time with ceremonial axes, while guests mingled across the grounds. Once conditions allowed, Laura and Mike stepped away for a couples shoot, making full use of the fire truck and the surrounding countryside. Group photographs and venue details followed before guests were called in.

After exiting the empty marquee off the back of the barn at Plas Isaf, where I captured the elegant empty room, fully decorated, I spotted a gathering of people in awe. Magician Pete Hopkins had captured the attention, with some great reactions captured.

Reception & Evening
Guests were welcomed into the wedding breakfast with napkins in the air, followed by speeches and relaxed conversation. As the light softened, remaining group shots and a low-light evening shoot rounded out the day. Evening celebrations included cake cutting, a first dance and live music from Rhythm Train.

Plas Isaf Wedding Photography
Despite challenging conditions early on, the day was a strong reminder that flexibility and patience are key when photographing weddings in North Wales. Plas Isaf offered the space and freedom to adapt, resulting in a wedding full of character, atmosphere and standout moments.
