Jodie and Tom were married in May at the stunning Combermere Abbey, one of Cheshire’s most iconic wedding venues. Set within expansive grounds, lakeside views and historic architecture, Combermere Abbey offers an unrivalled variety of scenery — from manicured gardens and woodland paths to striking buildings and open countryside. It’s a venue I always enjoy working at, and it suits my documentary approach perfectly, especially in glorious spring weather.

Wedding Preparations at Keepers Cottage

Preparations took place at Keepers Cottage, where the morning focused on genuine interaction, quiet anticipation and natural moments. Dress details, final alterations with mum, and hair and makeup by Cheshire Makeup Co all came together smoothly. A series of dress reveals followed, shared with Georgia, Mdu (the Bridal Party) and later dad, setting the tone before heading to the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Tom and the gents prepared nearby at the 'Pavilion'. Buttonholes and jackets were adjusted, before relaxed group portraits and details of the venue décor were captured.

Ceremony at the Glass House

The ceremony took place in the Glass House, a light-filled space overlooking the grounds. The entrance, vows, exchange of rings and first kiss were followed by an emotional reading, with guest reactions filling the room. The signing of the register completed the ceremony before a joyful exit, accompanied by live music from the Northern String Quartet.

Confetti, Drinks & Portraits

Confetti followed along the aisle with the Glass House as the backdrop, before guests moved into the drinks reception. Jodie and Tom took time away for a relaxed couples shoot, making the most of Combermere’s variety — cottages and archways, long walkways, the main driveway with open fields, the Mere for silhouettes, and the striking white house as evening approached.

Reception & Evening

Guests were announced into the wedding breakfast, with speeches following in the afternoon. As the light softened, remaining group shots and a low-light sunset shoot rounded out the day. Evening celebrations continued with cake cutting, a first dance and entertainment from the Silver Service Singers, who created some amazing reactions throughout.

With its textures, plants, architecture and ever-changing light, Combermere Abbey offers endless creative opportunities. It’s a venue that consistently delivers and remains one of the strongest locations for wedding photography across Cheshire and the North West. North Wales Wedding Photographer
