Mercure Abbots Well - Debbie & Gordon
Earlier in the year I shot a beautiful wedding at Hawarden Castle Pavilion for Nikki & Jake (see their blog here). Nikki announced at the wedding that there dear friends Debbie & Gordon were recently engaged to marry. Several months later, Debbie made contact with me to ask my availability, as she and Gordon had to decided to marry in a couple of months time. Fortunately I was available and the rest was history.
The Mercure Abbots Well is a hotel located just outside of Chester City Centre, near the A55. The ceremony and reception can take place on the grounds and there's a lovely gardens around the rear for photographs. My day began just before the ceremony.
The ceremony led straight into the neighboring room for drinks, which spilled out into the lovely gardens. This gave a nice opportunity for shots of the newlyweds and some natural bits of interaction.
Between the wedding breakfast and speeches, I noticed the low setting sun, casting some brilliant shadows through the trees. This was my opportunity to be creative and to use my 'off camera flash' to illuminate Debbie & Gordon from the glaring rear sunlight which was casting shadow over the couple.
This is also a lovely way to show off the grounds and the grand old trees. The evening reception followed the speeches and the fun could begin.
I wish both Debbie & Gordon a lifetime of happiness together. I loved capturing their day with great friends and family.
